Since its 1980s debut on UK television Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends has become a global classic, translated into 19 languages and broadcast in more than 130 countries.

Based upon The Railway Series of books written by the Rev. Awdry, the stories are set on the beautiful island of Sodor in a traditional English countryside during the steam engine era. Children are fascinated by the detail of Thomas and his friends - their colour's, faces, numbers and allotted tasks on the railway - and identify with the jokes, friendships and rivalries.
